Dick and Cat wanted to go camping. Dick asked Bonnie. Dick asked around, then somehow the word got out and it was a CAMPING TRIP.

Which he's okay with, really. He doesn't get much chance to hang around with other kids.

They pick a spot a good distance from the bar, near enough to the lake that washing and swimming can happen, not so close to the forest that demon bunnies are a severe threat, and set about pitching a camp for the weekend, or whenever they all get bored...

Rae has drawn up a list of duties with blank spaces beside them where people can write their names. There's a surprising lot that goes into camping. Fetching wood, building and tending the fire, preparing food, cleaning up... But with everyone pitching in, no one task will put too much of a burden on one person. They're all in it together, helping make it work. Rae finds she likes the sentiment.

"Patrol, um, Two's roster's here for camp duties," she says, after all the tents are up and everyone has picked a spot to sleep. The girl is very aware that a lot of her patrol are taller and older than she is, but she's determined to do her best. "And you can vote for your preferred patrol badge here, too."

One of her smaller, younger patrol members comes to look at the roster.

He kind of likes all the badges, hard to choose...

"Hi there, Fry," Rae greets the boy with a smile. "Excited about the camping trip?"

"I'm not sure." Fry says.

He's never spent a night away from home before. He's a bit worried.

"I like this badge." he says, pointing to the fire fish. "And the trilobite and the giant squid."

"I like those, too," she smiles. "Want me to put those down as your votes? I can rank them as your top three picks."

"Yes." Fry says. "But I'll wear any of them because they're shiny."

Dick is only a little taller and a little older than her, but he's very pleased with her as patrol leader. He's quick to write his name down under fire and preparing food, but plans to do a few more things as well.

"I still like the trilobite and the fire fish."

Rae has set her name down for food prep as well (of course!), and for clean-up.

"Me, too," she grins. "What d'you think, for dinner? I know how to bake potatoes in foil in campfire coals - and I made sure to bring butter and things to put on 'em, but that's the most I've done, myself. I've never actually stayed the night outside before."

She's obviously excited by the opportunity.

"I figured a stew," says Dick. "It's easy to make and really filling. We used to have it on the last night in any place. To use up all the food before packing up, y'know?"

"We make those kinds of meals at home sometimes, too," grins the girl. "Charlie calls 'em 'throw-together stews,' because we throw together whatever we've got available."

"Like that." He beams. "And we can do potatoes as well."

"I'm partial to the car myself, but whatever," the girl calling herself Cat says as she reads the duty roster.

"I'll put that down as your vote," Rae smiles at her, looking over the patrol list. "You're... Cat?" she makes a guess.

"What gave it away?" She asks all fake panic.

Rae chuckles, grinning. "Well, you didn't look like a 'Tyler' - I suppose you could've been a 'Cy.' Lucky guess."

"I'm Rae."

"Our fearless leader," Cat says with a smile. "Nice to meet you. What other votes do we have for an animal?"

"Reporting for duty," Rae grins, giving a cheerful salute with her clipboard. "Nice to meet you too."

"Lessee... Dick preferred the trilobite or the fire fish, Fry gave his preference for the fire fish, the trilobite, or the giant squid, and we've got your vote for the car. That's it so far."

"Cat. Sorry, I meant 'cat' not car. Though I kind of like the trilobite."

As cool as the fire fish is, fish have a different meaning for her. Still she'll go along with everyone else.
