Haly's Circus: New York City!

 It's a quick stop between Metropolis and Gotham City. New York is what John Grayson calls a Red Pin town - big shows, and dangerous tricks, but it's smaller than Metropolis and is a warm up for the big shows in Gotham.

Dick waited until the punters were beginning to show up then grabbed a moment between rehearsals to run into the bar and collect his friends. So many people had said they hadn't been to a circus in too long, and that had to be fixed.

Also, he feels that if having access to a magic bar is going to do something, it might as well bring an audience to the circus.

"Sometimes it is difficult," X says carefully, once their transactions have been completed.

"To pretend. Or to remember to pretend."

She can manage it in thirty minute increments, these days. It's like progress.

"Humans are strange," X allows.

"But that is helpful, too. Sometimes."

"We can say you sprained your ankle, too. If you fall. Or move too strangely."

Beat.

"People will understand. That."

That's reassuring as he knows he's not walking the same way and the pants aren't uncomfortable but hit in strange places, "Oh good."

She sounds pretty sure of that.

"And circuses are interesting."

"They seem to be and everything smells delicious. What is the proper thing to eat at a circus?"

X would look startled, but she was just as unfamiliar during her first trip to a fair.

"Fried food is not problematic? For you."

He can share in her funnel cake, if he likes.

"No, not at all. I quite enjoy it," It warms him up inside in a nice way.

She sounds very certain about that.

"I like it, too."

Well, the funnel cake kind, at least.
