Haly's Circus: New York City!

 It's a quick stop between Metropolis and Gotham City. New York is what John Grayson calls a Red Pin town - big shows, and dangerous tricks, but it's smaller than Metropolis and is a warm up for the big shows in Gotham.

Dick waited until the punters were beginning to show up then grabbed a moment between rehearsals to run into the bar and collect his friends. So many people had said they hadn't been to a circus in too long, and that had to be fixed.

Also, he feels that if having access to a magic bar is going to do something, it might as well bring an audience to the circus.

"Are any of those good?" he asks before turning to look at Tumnus and giggling. "You're covered in powder."

"The funnel cake is delicious but messy. Oh dear, I am, but its not as messy as it could be,"

He starts to try and pat it off, this just creates a cloud around him. The clothes do keep it from getting caught in his fur.

Aang looks around them to see if anyone is paying attention.

"Hold still," he says with a smirk, and then airbends both the cloud and resulting sugar into the nearest trash can.

It'd be rude to litter, after all.

"Thank you. What would you like?" That's a useful type of magic.

"I don't know. I really don't recognize any of these. What'd you have?"

"Funnel cake, that was where all the sugar came from."

"What's a funnel cake?"

It certainly sounds promising.

"Do you see where the dough is being twirled about over there? That will be a funnel cake."

He cranes his neck to get a better view of the whole funnel cake process.

"Woah....neat! He's just dropping it into oil and frying it!"

"Then he covers it with sugar, lots of sugar."

"The one I had was delicious,"

He and X shared one, but Aang could probably eat one all on his own.

The question isn't whether or not Aang could eat a whole funnel cake on his own. The question is should he be allowed to.

He reaches into the pockets of his blue jeans and retrieves a cloth money purse. The money is so foreign, and unhelpfully all the same shape and color.

Aang sticks out his tongue as he tries to match the numbers on the bills to the number next to the picture of the funnel cake.

Some help would not go amiss.

Tumnus leans over to show him the correct cost, the money is odd.

"Thanks! Math was never my best subject."

Sometimes he has nightmares about math tests...
He makes his way into the line proper, orders when called upon, and then waits on tippie-toes as his funnel cake is sugared, wrapped and served.

With a gleeful spring in his step he returns to Tumnus, a wide smile across his face.

"This looks great! Do you want a bite?"

"No, thank you. I had a lot when I shared X's,"

Aang is charming and Tumnus grins at him.

Aang takes an experimental bite from one end of the dessert, and chews thoughtfully. When it's been decided that the treat is as delicious as it looks, he takes a larger bite.

Unfortunately this larger bite comes with a bit more powdered sugar than Aang was expecting. Or...really it's Aang's nose that was surprised. Before he can give anyone a proper warning, he sneezes.

Now...when an airbender sneezes, he really sneezes. He flies about ten feet back, slamming hard into the booth behind him, while at the same time sending out a powerful blast of air from his nose and mouth that knocks over just about anything within twenty feet in front of him.

The sneeze is unexpected and Tumnus goes back into the crowd.

Luckily they're in a part of the crowd that's not too thick, but its a lot of people and one of Tumnus' hooves is peeking out from under his pants as he works to get upright.

Aang lands in the food stall with an almighty crash that brings donuts and sugar flying into the air and raining down on him. The small crowd of people around the close-up illusionist in front of him are knocked to the ground, and his cards go flying across the lot. There are a few screams of surprise, and at least two children start crying.

"Stupid metas!" a man yells angrily.

The force of hitting the stall stuns him for a few moments, which is why it takes him a touch longer to realize what's happened and recognize the scene he's just made.

"Uh..."

He's not certain what a meta is other than bad and manages to stand and hurries over to Aang,

"We need to not be here."

Running away is something he hasn't done since the White Witch ruled but its not something you forget how to do.

"Wha? What happened..."

Aang slowly starts to come back to himself, and what he sees when he gets there is a perturbed faun and dozens of staring eyes.

"ut oh."

He airbends to his feet.

Tumnus winces at the airbending as they didn't seem to like that and quickly covers his hooves.

Then moves to hide Aang with his body and get them away from the crowd, there seems to be a sort of alley between some tents.

Even as Tumnus shuffles him off, Aang is able to spy a bit of the damage a single sneeze from him has caused.

"monkeyfeathers," he cusses under his breath as they walk.

"Yes, by the Lion's Breath, you can do a lot for your size. I think your cake went that way," He gestures into the crowd as its quiet in the little alley.

"We'll just wait here until its all calmed down."
