Haly's Circus: New York City!

 It's a quick stop between Metropolis and Gotham City. New York is what John Grayson calls a Red Pin town - big shows, and dangerous tricks, but it's smaller than Metropolis and is a warm up for the big shows in Gotham.

Dick waited until the punters were beginning to show up then grabbed a moment between rehearsals to run into the bar and collect his friends. So many people had said they hadn't been to a circus in too long, and that had to be fixed.

Also, he feels that if having access to a magic bar is going to do something, it might as well bring an audience to the circus.

After a few flushes, Dick peers around the bathroom door.

And watches him.

It's mesmerizing, especially when Aang uses his waterbending to force the water to flow in the other direction down the drain.

"What are you doing?"

....ut oh. He's been caught.

"uh...playing with your toilet?"

[daringyoungman]

"Why?"

[12goingon113]

"Because they're neat?"

[daringyoungman]

"Wash your hands before you eat anything."

Dick isn't the most hygienic of kids, but he has standards.

"I know it's a chamber pot," he says rolling his eyes.
Duh, he's not stupid, Dick.

[daringyoungman]

"You're playing with it."

Duh, Aang.

"It's not like it was dirty at the time!"

[daringyoungman]

"It's still gross."

So there.

"Whatever," he says with a roll of his eyes.

In truth, he's really just stalling. He's never really not worn Air Nomad robes before.

Dick shrugs, and holds up a sweater he found.

It's orange!

It is very orange, yes.
But still...not monks robes.

"I'm being stupid, I know I'm being stupid."

[daringyoungman]

"You don't have to," Dick says.

"Plenty of strange folk in a circus."

"There's strange, and then there's a twelve year old kid with full body tattoos," Aang sighs. "I'm already weird in my own world, I can only imagine what I'd be in yours.

It's just that even knowing that? It's still hard to let go, you know?"

"No."

Dick thinks, about what he'd do if he was told to pretend not to be Dick.

"Yes.

"But maybe you don't stop being Aang just 'cause you're pretending to be a rube right now."

"Maybe," he says picking up the offered clothes again.

He has to admit, he does kind of love the orange and white tie up shoes named Chuck.

Also, someone has to wear this Metropolis Monarchs hat.

"Don't pretend you aren't you. Just don't make yourself a target."

Aang takes the hat and gives it a critical eye, before plopping it on his head. The wool is itchy at first, but he gets used to it.

"Remind me what this says again?"

[daringyoungman]

"Metropolis Monarchs," Dick says. "They're a baseball team."

Don't mind the calming breath Aang takes as he removes the hat and begins to rummage through the folded pile of offered clothing.

"And that's the game with the club and the ball, right?"

Orange sweater. Check. Blue pants made of a material that feels like canvas. Check. Orange shoes named Chuck. Check. Aang reaches out to touch the white t-shirt and socks that came with the rest of his clothing.

He looks concerned.

"That's the one," Dick says.

He comes up behind Aang and peers past his shoulder at the clothing.

"What's up?"

"They're white." It's almost as if he expects Dick to recognize the cultural significance of that color.

"Maybe this is the real reason the Monks detached from the material world..."

[daringyoungman]

"Because of white?"

Aang, the sense you are making isn't much.
